Dating Apps during the Pandemic

Due to the impacts of COVID-19, students were confined to their homes which spiked the download of dating applications. Instead of meeting others organically, college students have relied on intangible sources of communication to build relationships with others. Our group was determined to research the dependence of online dating applications during a pandemic from college students at California State University, Long Beach.

We found that online dating applications were at the forefront of the pastimes of many college students during locked down. We discovered that many download dating applications not out of necessity but out of boredom. The data shows that most college students were not looking for long-term relationships. Instead, they were looking for a way to pass the time.
